Description
The Friends of Lake Bemidji State Park are seeking volunteers this Saturday, September 29, starting at 10:00 am to assist with work on the new nature playscape in the park. Volunteer activities will include installing weed barrier, spreading and levelling gravel, spreading and levelling mulch and starting to put some of the playscape elements in the ground.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own lunch to picnic during the afternoon break. Tools, equipment and materials will be provided. Proper attire is recommended including shoes or boots, long pants and gloves. Vehicle permits will be provided for volunteers of the project.
The Friends of Lake Bemidji State Park are very excited about the addition of the nature playscape which will exist on conjunction with the current playground and swing set. The elements of the nature playscape which will include climbing boulders, hollow log and fort building will help to develop a child’s cognitive, physical and social abilities while engaging them with nature and increase their comfort with the fantastic natural world around them.
Questions can be directed to Pete Harrison, Lake Bemidji State Park Manager at 218-308-2300.
